Why wasn't the Continental Army mostly expirienced?
If you don’t know what the Continental army was, they were American Army. They were not very experienced for the following reasons:
-The American Army consisted of “indentured servants”.
-They accepted a need for a standing army.
-They had trouble teaching the voluntary group war strategies, weapons use, etc.
Let me explain each reason to you. I will then explain the solution to the problem.
“Indentured servants” meant not trained helping people. So basically, the American Army consisted of not trained helping people. They were mostly men. One lady had joined the army by dressing and looking like men. This army wouldn’t be any match for the tougher British Army.
The leaders of the war knew that they needed to have an army real quick. Now, how could they gain experienced soldiers in last minute? So the leaders accepted the need of a standing army. They also formed a voluntary group called the Minutemen. They were called this because they were ready in a minute with a call.
The army leaders weren’t able to teach war strategies, weapon use, and etc. because they had trouble teaching them. Why did they have trouble teaching these things? One: they had a short amount of time. Two: it was hard teaching the army because they weren’t really experienced.
To cure this problem, they gained allies. First, they sent Benjamin Franklin to ask for help in France. Franklin convinced France to help them. Eventually, they gained more and more allies. This solution really helped the Continental Army win.
