What was the American Government after winning the war?
There were 2 governments. The 1st one didn’t work out so well, so they made another government. This one worked a lot better than the 1st one. These 2 governments were the Articles of Confederation and the Three Branches of Government with the Bill of Rights. Let me explain how each one worked.
The Articles of Confederation was the 1st and bad government. It was a very small and weak government. This was because the Americans didn’t want a strong government like the British did. The Article of Confederation, however, was 100 times weaker and caused many big problems, especially to farmers. These problems include small power to finance itself, no president, no court, and many more.
Because of this weak constitution, the 2nd Continental Congress met. They met to write up a new constitution that was better. The new constitution was finally established a few months later.
The new Constitution consisted of the Bill of Rights and the Three Branches of Government. The Bill of Rights has over 10 amendments. The Three Branches are Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. With this Constitution, the Americans were very successful. Let me tell you how each one works.
The Bill of Rights is made up of many amendments, not just 10. If someone tells you there are only 10 amendments, say there are probably 20. Colonists thought the Bill of Rights as shield. This shield protected the colonists from what the British did, like quartering soldiers. The amendments protected different amendments. For example, the first amendment protects freedom of speech, religion and press. This is another example of a right that Britain did not protect.
The executive branch includes the President and Vice President. The President sometimes is called Chief Executive. The President has to write a bill and give it to the legislative branch in order to make it a law. If it’s approved, it gets to become a law. Also, the President does not have all the power. The legislative includes the Congress, which is divided into
