What kind of country was formed after independence?
There were 2 to 3 answers. That is not many answers, is it? But, they all are long answers. These answers took place at different times, of course. The U.S. started changing overtime after winning the American Revolution and gaining independence from Britain.
After the Articles of Confederation was established, the U.S. had a very bad and weak start. The constitution itself was weak. This was the reason why the U.S. was weak. Why? The government didn’t have a leader of the country, a court, and other major issues. If you know how our government works, the president controls how much money is spent, the Congress makes laws, the court provides justice, etc. The only good thing about the Articles of Confederation was that there was a Congress. Still, colonists didn’t like the government. One farmer showed his expression by trying to kill a statesman in front of other colonists.
Later, a meeting took place to change the Constitution.
After the Great Compromise of forming a Congress, the brand new government was established. It was called the Three Branches of Government. After some time, the Bill of Rights was added. The new Constitution turned the U.S. into a strong, but not too strong, country.
As more colonists came to the U.S., the U.S territory began running out. Since the U.S. was on the East side of North America, there was more room in the West. The colonists had a belief called Manifest Destiny. This means Westward expansion. So the colonists wanted to expand to the West. They did end up expanding to the west, but with wars, treaties, and purchases.
